Chasing Rubies

Hi! My name is Rachel Moore, and I'm going to be a freshman at The University of Texas at Austin starting in 28 days!! I couldn't be more thrilled to start the new chapter of my life in Austin. The city itself is so unique, and I can't wait to explore it. I am also so excited to integrate myself into some great organizations at UT such as YoungLife and After Dark. I know some pretty amazing things are happening at UT, and I am excited to see what part I'm going to play in it all.

I want to start out by explaining the title of my blog. The words "Chasing Rubies, Chasing Gold" are lyrics from one of my favorite songs, "Chasing Rubies" by Hudson Taylor. In the song, a guy is chasing the girl he has only just met and doesn't want to lose, he's "chasing rubies", he's chasing something that he views is worth any hardship to get to. In my life, "chasing rubies" plays somewhat of a different role. I'm not chasing a guy or fame or money, I am chasing someone who gave his life up for me and who loves me even though I screw up and disobey him time and time again. Chasing The Lord is worth everything to me because I know that without him, I would be nothing, and I would be living for nothing. He has given my life meaning, and for that, I am "Chasing Rubies and Chasing Gold" to find him and follow him.

"My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" Your face, LORD, I will seek."
-Pslam 27:8
